Got shade? There are different degrees of shade – dappled, part and full — and it’s hard to tell just how shady your garden is. To find out exactly how much light your garden gets, place a sunlight calculator in the bed on a sunny day. The SunCalc® Sunlight Calculator measures the amount of light falling on the area over a 12-hour period and helps you choose plants that’ll thrive there. When we tried this in our garden, we found you need to set the calculator straight up and down in a pot so it’s above the surrounding plants to get an accurate reading.
